Pesto Sausage & Fresh Mozzarella

  • 8 ounces Frigo® Fresh Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced onion
  • 1 14-inch pizza crust*
  • 1/2 cup pesto
  • 4 ounces fresh Italian sausage
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced orange pepper

Directions

Preheat the oven to 400oF.

Slice the Frigo® Mozzarella Cheese into 10 slices and set aside.

Then, in a small nonstick skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the onions and cook, stirring until the onions are coated and becoming translucent, 1–2 minutes. Then, reduce the heat to low and cook until the onions are caramelized and golden. Remove them from the heat and set them aside.

Spread the crust with the pesto and top with the Frigo® Mozzarella Cheese slices. Next, break the sausage into little bits, not more than 3/4 of an inch in size, and place the bits on top of the cheese. Finally, sprinkle with the peppers.

Bake until the Frigo® Mozzarella Cheese is melted and the pizza is fully cooked.

*Use a prepared crust, roll out store-bought dough or make your own crust.
